An 89-year-old man was crushed to death on Sunday afternoon, prompting the launch of a police investigation.
A blue Honda Accord crashed into a garage in York Road, Weybridge, at about 3pm and crushed the pensioner between the vehicle and a wall.
An air ambulance landed in Oatlands Park and took him to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, but he later died of multiple injuries.
One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “There were lots of police. It looked like a major incident and there were lots of people gathered around the house.
The road was closed off.”
The road was still closed off at about 6pm.
Walton fire station sent out two pumps and worked to make the structure safe.
Surrey Police are investigating.
