Molesey faced their toughest weather conditions this past Saturday when they hosted Cove.

Molesey gave starts to Danny Roberts and Ross Defoe both making their debuts for the Molesey first team. However both players will look back and see this game as a missed opportunity to impress the first team management, but with conditions as difficult as they were every Molesey player failed to impress. Although few had any reason to be off the pace, Molesey captain Steve Brown being played out of position at right back meant that he couldn't have the impact that his central midfield role gives him. Even stranger to have Brown at right back was the inclusion of Craig Stephens on the bench, when he has played at right back a few times this season already and is more than capable.

The lack of Steve Browns passion and desire in midfield showed early with Danny Coombes and Ross Defoe failing to have much impact on the game in the centre of midfield.

Although the lack of bite in midfield cannot be used as an excuse for the first goal Molesey conceded. Cove midfielder, David Johnston had obviously been watching David Bentley a few days previously as he volleyed in a goal that was almost an exact replica of Bentleys stunner. Molesey were left shocked at this early set back but they weren't given much respite.

Just four minutes later Alex Jefferys found himself with time and space to knock another goal past the hapless Matt Nash.

Molesey found themselves 2-0 down after just ten minutes and already the game was basically over. The Molesey fans left open mouthed at how the game had gone before many of them had taken their positions behind the goal.

The first half then mostly fizzled out with one Sam Lampard shot being saved by Cove 'keeper Chris Foster. Whilst at the other end Alex Jefferys volleyed an effort straight of the bar.

Molesey had a chance three minutes after half time to get a goal back but Lewis Ackerman's strike was ruled out for offside. But before Molesey could rally behind their first real chance of the game and create some pressure of their own, Alex Jeffreys managed to head the ball off the post and into the net, after Mitch While had beaten Moleseys defence in the air twice to get the ball to Jefferys.

This killed the game for Molesey who now had no chance of getting anything from the game.

Molesey subbed both their strikers, Lewis Ackerman and Danny Roberts being replaced by Liam O'Leary and Danny Brownsea to try to make a difference up front. But like the previous partnership there was no cutting ede to the attack force and Moleseys attacks rarely got past midfield.

Dan Sacha curled an effort straight into the 'keepers arms and then just after he was replaced by Enva Hasa, Liam O'Leary headed a cross wide when it was easier to score.

But for Molesey at the moment they aren't finding any easy way to the goal. Little cutting edge up front and a series of mistakes at the back is making this season look more and more like last season.
