A man accused of setting fire to a neighbour’s house and then attempting to murder him appeared in court today.
Steve Gallop, 49, of Green Walk in Hampton, was at Richmond Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with attempted murder and two counts of arson with intent to endanger life.
Jackie Franks, prosecuting, told the court the incident happened at around 9.30pm on Saturday, after Gallop had been drinking for a long period with a neighbour, Stephen Talot.
The court heard Mr Talot saw the blind on his front door was on fire and when he put it out and opened the door to remove the smoke he was stabbed repeatedly in the stomach and arms.
Gallop did not enter pleas and was remanded in custody until January 1 when he will appear at Kingston Crown Court.
