A man has died after a tree fell on his van in Clapham Common.

Police were called to Clapham Common South Side shortly after 2pm to reports of a tree fallen on vehicles yesterday.

Police, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended and found a car and a van damaged.

The man, whose age has not yet been released was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other men, who had also been in the van, were taken to a south London hospital.

One has serious back injuries; the other has an arm injury. Both are believed to be aged in their 30s.

The occupants of the car are believed to have escaped uninjured.

Traffic officers are at the scene and enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

this is so tragic. This is where the leader of the councild bonus should go, on people checking tree's and things like this, the same thing happened on Wandsworth Common a few years ago where 2 people one being pregnant lost their lives, due to a rotting tree. Very bad. condolences to this guys family.

This is very unfortunate, I know someone who was first one the scene & they are very distraught by this.
My wishes are with all 3 men & I hope the 2 injured men get well soon.
This should be a message to the council to find out why this happened & try to help these men's families in some way.
