A woman has died after being hit by a train while crossing the tracks at Surbiton station this afternoon.
Police believe she was hit by a fast train travelling from Salisbury to London Waterloo, when she "didn't make it in time" and was hit on the line at about 2.30pm.
An ambulance and fast response car rushed to the scene but she was pronounced dead when they arrived.
The line was blocked for 45 minutes after the incident and although they have now been reopened, there are still delays of up to an hour.
A South West Trains spokeswoman said: "There are delays but we are working towards that decreasing but it's a bit tougher at peak times to do that."
