A furious woman who threw a 16-year-old girl to the ground and sprayed her boozy friends with bleach has spoken out about the attack for the first time.

The 53-year-old woman, who wants to remain anonymous, admitted she was sorry she had hurt the 16-year-old girl in the incident in Rosebery Park on May 9.

"People have sex in the bushes yards from our house. They leave discarded underwear on the benches. It's been hell on earth and we think enough is enough."

But she said the huge amount of noise the students were making caused her to react after seven years of disruption.

She said: "At night over the last seven years, we've been kept awake until 3am by young people in the park. They've been dealing drugs, riding scooters in the park and having sex, and vandalising the swings. We hear it all.

"People have sex in the bushes yards from our house. They leave discarded underwear on the benches. It's been hell on earth and we think enough is enough.

"They're probably middle class kids but when they're out with their male friends, they make a huge amount of noise, keeping us awake all night. But their parents don't know they're doing anything wrong because when they go home, they're as quiet as mice.

"I went out, got hold of one of the girls and floored her. I took an empty bleach bottle and I filled it with water to scare them."

The woman, who has now made the decision to move as a result of the constant disruption, said she was stunned when police turned up and arrested her.

"It is the first time I've been in trouble with police. I was shocked when they arrested me, because the students making all the noise had obviously gone home and said they hadn't done anything wrong.

"Perhaps they were just there at the wrong time. I don't know if they're regulars. I can't even go out now and tell them off because I'm scared.

"The people writing into the paper against me haven't got to live with this stuff all summer."

What astounds me is this womans sense of self-pity, with little remorse for her actions.
She had no proof whether the girl was involved in any wrongdoing, yet decided to "floor" someone who was most likely much smaller and a lot younger than she was, hoping to scare her.
This behaviour is just as bad, if not worse than the alleged shenanigans she speaks of in the park.
Many I have spoken to doubt these claims. I do agree, that yes, there is some underage drinking there, it rarely, if never continues onto 3AM, as anyone who has walked home via the area from a night out can clarify.
And if her claims were true she had no way if proving the innocent girl she attacked had any involvement, especially considering this took place at 4 PM of a weeknight.
This just depicts the woman quite clearly what she is- ignorant and self imortant: much more of a "feral youth" than many teenagers will ever be.

Is there really so little local news out there that you have to resort to this sort of thing? Can't we have some real local interest stories?

How about the local residents' reactions to the planning application for a monstrous carbuncle that developers wish to impose on the residents of Ruxley Lane in West Ewell, for example?

Perhaps a bit of conversation with some local people might actually unearth some good news for a change? Is there no-one that has had a baby, got married, won an award, etc, etc?

Sorry, but any of that would be more interesting than this old story, resurrected from weeks ago!

"Boozy Teenagers", Epsom says...

Can Aaron Moon please stop referring to us as "boozy" and "thugs" and other derrogatory terms. They are unfair and untrue. It's giving rosebery girls a bad reputation and the public the wrong impression of most teenagers living in the area.

I'm somewhat confused by Sarah P's comment, since there were no recent, interesting news reports on the Epsom site at the time I prepared and posted my statement. Perhaps she was looking at a different area, or didn't take into account the time difference? Thank You, to the Guardian news reporters for taking note of my comments and posting some further, more interesting items since.
