A prisoner serving an eight-month jail sentence has been found dead in his cell in High Down prison.
Scott Sadler-Marriott, 20, who was convicted of threatening a witness, was found hanging in his cell by staff at HMP High Down in Sutton on Tuesday evening.
Prison staff tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead by paramedics 20 minutes after midnight today.
A prison service spokesman said Sadler-Marriott had not been considered a suicide risk.
"Our sympathies are with Mr Sadler-Marriot's family," he said.
"As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation."
