Streatham supermodel Naomi Campbell has been arrested after flying into a rage over a lost bag at Heathrow's T5.

The beauty, 37, known for her temper, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer who had attempted to calm her down.

Police confirmed they were called to a disturbance at the airport's newly opened T5 at 5.13pm yesterday.

A Met spokesman said: "A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer."

The model, who was released on bail this morning, faces a possible six-month sentence if she is charged with the assault.

Celena Aponte, the model's spokeswoman, said: "She arrived in plenty of time at Heathrow Terminal 5 with two bags, checked them in, and was told they would take the flight.

"When on the flight she was told one bag could not be found and was missing.

"British Airways decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight, calling the police, and forcibly ejecting her from the plane.

"As far as we are aware BA has still failed to offer an explanation as to why her bag went missing at Terminal 5."

Last year Naomi served a five-day community sentence for throwing her mobile phone at a maid.

Thousands of bags have been caught in a backlog since the airport's new terminal was opened on Thursday, March 27.

A spokesman for BAA, which runs the airport, said: "We are unaware of any other incident apart from this, where police have had to be called in."
