Passengers using the Southern service are being advised to expect delays, revised routes or cancellations which are expected to last until 8pm so that tracks can be repaired.

The damaged track between Streatham Common and Balham is causing disruption to services and trains between Selhurst and London Victoria will be changed.

Network Rail staff have also confirmed that they have began work to repair the set of points on one of the two lines which is used by Southern Rail and the Gatwick Express services.

Train drivers using the affected tracks then have to go through a series of instructions given to them by a signaller before going over the repaired track at just 20 miles-per-hour.

Other trains have been diverted to other routes however majority still share the track lines which means that passengers will experience delays which have been caused by congestion.

Customers are advised to continue with their normal route of travel but should be mindful of the delays that affect trains heading towards London Victoria.

Trains at Clapham Junction may also be delayed and there is a possibility that fewer trains will run in order to prevent delays for the rest of the evening.

Passengers are also advised that some trains may not run to their schedule but this will mainly affect Southern train services that stop at Clapham Junction and East Croydon.
