Detectives investigating a case of bank card fraud in Cobham are looking to trace the man in this CCTV image.

Surrey Police have issued an appeal for information, after an elderly woman in Cobham fell victim to a bank card fraud.

The victim received numerous phone calls from a man claiming to work for NatWest Bank on Monday, July 9, and Saturday, July 14.

The man informed the victim of an imminent update to the banking system and advised her that she needed a new bank card.

On Monday, July 16, a man posing as a courier knocked on her door and asked the victim to place her card in one of two envelopes, saying that it would be destroyed.

The man left leaving an Apple iTunes gift card in the other envelope.

The card was later used to withdraw money from her account.

Police would like to speak to this man in relation to the card being used at the BP garage in Shepperton 20 minutes after it was collected from the victim's address.

PC Alice Wooting, who is in charge of the investigation, said: “This type of fraud is known as ‘Courier Fraud’.

“Fraudsters will prey on victims by lying about who they are, tricking their targets into handing over cash, cards or bank details to someone who arrives at their door.

“If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around Fairmile Lane in Cobham between 1 and 1.15pm on Monday, July 16, please get in touch.”
