A care home in Epsom hosted a music festival and raised over £700 for local charities.

Residents of Appleby House on Longmead Road were joined by the local community for an evening of musical entertainment.

The proceeds from the festival were donated to Age Concern Epsom and Ewell and Purple Angels.

Residents and guests were treated to a special performance from professional singers Francis Fry, Rebecca Burraway, Haley and Gerry Judge, and James Schouten, who took to the stage in the home’s garden.

The evening included performances of popular hits from across the decades, including jazz and blues, classic opera pieces, and well-known songs from musicals.

Shona Bradbury, home manager at Appleby House, said: “We were thrilled to welcome so many members of the local community to the home for what was a memorable night at Appleby House.

“The musical performances proved to be a big hit with both guests and residents, and for many residents it proved to be an effective reminiscence activity.

“The festival also provided us with a great opportunity to raise money for a cause close to the hearts of many here at Appleby House, and we’re delighted to have raised over £700.

“We’d like to thank the friends of Appleby House, as well as the local community, who all helped make the night such a success.”.
