Staff at Beaumont House Day Nursery in Twickenham have been awarded for their efforts to go above and beyond by having all of their staff trained in paediatric first aid.
This renowned award is named after Millie Thompson, who died after choking at nursery in 2012 when she was just nine months old.
Not only do all staff at the nursery confidently hold a paediatric first aid certificate, they have reflected on their childcare practice to ensure tight processes and documentation are in place.
Nursery Manager, Emma Miller, said, “We have worked really hard towards this award and recognise the huge importance parents place on the safety of their children whilst they are at nursery.”
In the last six months the team of staff have been working exceptionally hard to minimise risks and accidents to achieve this reward - They are now delighted that their efforts have been acknowledged.
The nursery have been awarded by National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA), in association with Department for Education and Millie’s Trust.
“We want to offer them an extra level of awareness and training, so that we can be the safest possible place for young children. Staff have enjoyed doing the training and we are all so much more aware of first aid issues now.” Emma Miller added.
