Surrey Police dispersed a convoy of caravans making their way to Alexandra Recreation Ground in Epsom on Friday (August 10).
Concerns were raised by residents of caravans driving on the wrong side of Alexandra Road.
The road was reportedly completely blocked, with residents complaining of chaos in all directions on Mill Road, Bridge Road and Upper High Street.
Several police cars were also reported to be at the scene.
Travellers have been reported in multiple locations around the Epsom area over the past month, including Nonsuch Park.
A spokesperson for Epsom and Ewell borough council said: “This action caused some disruption, with a large number of caravans blocking the road which Surrey Police were able to disperse.
“We have a large number of green spaces with multiple entrances, unfortunately we do not have the resources to be able to take this kind of action 24/7.”
