Colliers Wood Library has been shortlisted for the Bookseller’s Library of the Year Award.
The library was opened in February and has with created with accessibility in mind. It is Merton’s first dementia friendly library.
It has three floors and includes a coffee shop, newly designed meeting rooms and facilities for people of all ages.
It also has solar panels and a green sedum roof. Merton Council’s cabinet member for community and culture, Cllr Nick Draper said: “Congratulations to all staff and volunteers who have worked incredibly hard to make Colliers Wood Library a vital community resource which can be enjoyed by everyone.
“Not only is Colliers Wood Library a great place for families, being Merton’s first dementia friendly library, we’ve created a wonderful environment which is free and accessible to all.”
The prestigious award, open to all libraries across the UK, was announced on Friday, July, 13.
