England fans across south London went ballistic as the Three Lions scored twice reach the World Cup semi-final for the first time in 28 years.

Ecstatic supporters were in dreamland when Harry Maguire headed England in front from a corner on the half-hour mark in Samara.

And there were more reasons to celebrate when Dele Alli doubled the lead with his header from a Jesse Lingard cross shortly before the hour to help England cruise into the last four.

There was mayhem at Boxpark Croydon for both goals as beers were thrown into the air, while similar scenes were found at The Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich.

Now they will face Croatia in the semi-finals, a stage they’ve not progressed to since 1990.

As England shirts and waistcoasts sell out, and soon-to-bed wedded couples frantically rearrange their weddings, eyes remain glued to TV screens up and down the country for what comes next.
