A 68-year-old man is fighting for his life three months after a suspected hit and run.

Police are appealing for information after the victim was found lying on the ground in London Road, Thornton Heath on March 7.

In particular they are appealing for information to identify a driver of a grey people carrier, who is believed to have been in the area at the time of the incident.

The 68-year-old was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service and taken to a south London hospital where he remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Officers investigating would like to speak to the driver of the people carrier; he is described as white and was wearing a high visibility sleeveless jacket.

DC Sue Chalmers from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command said: “The man has sadly suffered serious injuries as a result of this incident and I am keen to understand exactly what happened.

“I believe the driver of the grey car stopped at the scene and helped direct traffic but left before the ambulance service arrived. I would like to speak to him as he may have more information about what happened in the lead up to the incident.”
