When Katya Davidson-Redwood first came up with the idea to complete the Wandle Walk for charity, she set her sights on raising $100.

Well she blew that figure out of the water, raising money for Tourette's Action, a charity very close to her heart.

You see the eight-year-old girl from Carshalton was recently diagnosed with Tourette's and had a difficult time learning to accept it.

"The reason why I chose the Wandle is because I am studying it at school and I'm finding it fascinating and school is where my friends are just noticing my tics," Katya said.

"This is where I want to bring the two things together."

And that she did.

Katya raised £1100 from the walk, something she was immensely proud of.

"We did the Wandle Walk and it was wonderful," Katya said.

"My favourite part at the walk was raising loads of money for charity.

"Thank you everyone who joined me on Katya's wonderful Wandle Walk."

But it wasn't just about raising money.

It was about getting out of her shell and showing the world that Tourette's is nothing to be ashamed of.

"As a family we would like to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported, donated and helped to make Katya's fundraising event a success," Katya's grandmother Sharon Crayden said.

"We walked, pushed, pulled, talked, sang and laughed our way along the Wandle in an array of green clothes.

"The event raised £1100.64 by Saturday and more donations since.

"We are extremely proud of this little one who now accepts her condition more and is raising awareness of it for others.

Katya is now planning another event for next year as her uncle Kyle and auntie Emily Havery bid for a London Marathon place to run for Tourettes Action.
