A Wimbledon company has helped build a boxing club and community centre in wake of the Grenfell tragedy.

The call was put out to businesses around the country by BBC show DIY SOS to help the community in wake of the fire that took the lives of 72 people last year.

ELB Partners in Weir Road answered that call and stocked an 18-tonne truck full of construction equipment to help build the community centre and the Dale Boxing Club at Grenfell.

Managing director of ELB, Peter Eason, said it was the least they could do.

“I had always said that I wanted our business to be involved in some way with this build," he said.

"Ours was a relatively small contribution, but we wanted to play our part in what is a really important and symbolic construction as we approach the anniversary of the tragedy.

“We all look back in shock, but we must also all look forward and highlight the positives of rebuilding the community decimated by the events of last June.”
