A young man who received “a cut to his neck” was attacked in the fight in Richmond town centre over bank holiday.

A witness, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she was on a night out when she saw the brawl start “out of nowhere”.

Police confirmed a man was hospitalised after the incident on Sunday night (May 27).

The witness said: “There were about 20 boys and girls, all late teens, fighting in the street. They cornered the victim in the doorway of Viva.”

She said other witnesses, who knew the victim, were talking about knife crime and claims one said he had been stabbed himself twice already.

“There was a big group of them all just crying,” she said.

She added it has made her re-think her own safety.

“You go in bars now and don’t know who is carrying knives. I’ve lived for a long time in the area. You don’t think you’re unsafe, but it seems normal now. It made me think it’s really scary.

“It can’t be normal. I think to them it’s like a normal behaviour, it’s like a fashion, it’s their new buzz - that’s very sad.”

The Met Police are still appealing for witnesses to Sunday's incident to come forward.

They said: "Police were called at approximately 23:15hrs on Sunday, 27 May to reports of a man injured following a fight in Hill Street, Richmond.

"A man, aged in his 20s, was found suffering a cut to his neck - he was taken to a west London hospital for treatment. His injuries are not serious.

"Enquiries continue to establish the circumstances of the incident and how the male came to receive his injuries.
