A Surbiton care home resident has celebrated reaching the grand age of 104 years old.
May Comfort has lived at Southborough Nursing Home since March, and marked her May 18 birthday with two parties - one with other residents and one with her family.
The secret to her longevity? "I have never smoked," she said.
Care home staff said she has remained active, and joins in with most activities "with gusto", including cookery, arts and crafts, singalongs and quizzes.
Born in Camberwell in 1914, Mrs Comfort grew up alongside three brothers and four sisters.
She worked as a machinist making curtains and soft furnishings until she got married and had her family of two sons and a daughter.
Later in her life she moved to Chessington.
Liz Da Costa, who works at the home, said: "We all love 'Nana May' at Southborough, and we all had a wonderful time on her birthday, along with her lovely family.
"May is such an inspiration to us all, and we wish her all the best in the world."
On the day, Mrs Comfort enjoyed the party and her cake, and received a birthday card with best wishes from the Mayor of Kingston.
