The newly appointed Mayor of Wandsworth has selected the charities he will fundraise for this year.
Cllr Piers McCausland has chosen charities who specifically help older and disabled people during his second stint as mayor.
The three charities picked are Share Community, who provide training and employment to people with disabilities, Leonard Cheshire, who run the Randall Close Day Centre in Wandsworth helping older and disabled people and Wandsworth Community Transport, helping older and disabled people socialise as well as run the Shopmobility scheme.
Cllr McCausland, who was born in Northern Ireland, was elected to the council in 1998 and previously served as mayor in 2010 as well as holding a position on the planning committee.
The Fairfield ward councillor is a retired building surveyor with a degree in Law and was involved in the building and construction industry for many years. He has served as the trustee of several charities and a governor of Allfarthing Primary School, St Ann’s Crescent.
The deputy mayor is Cllr Jane Cooper, who was born in Yorkshire but has lived in Wandsworth for more than 30 years and represents West Putney ward.
