Residents of a care home in Walton-on-Thames have been treated to a royal visit.

The Duchess of Gloucester, Birgitte Eva Henriksen, travelled to Sherwood House Care Home on Tuesday (May 15) for afternoon tea and live music.

The arrival of the special guest commemorated the 70th anniversary of Music in Hospitals & Care (MiHC), a charity which delivers therapeutic live music in healthcare facilities.

Peter Fairlie, Chairman of MiHC, said: “We were delighted to welcome The Duchess of Gloucester to Sherwood House and thank her very much for recognising and participating in our 70th anniversary with this special visit.

“We are very grateful to the excellent support we receive from our Royal Patron and the joy she clearly brings to people in care, with her visits to our concerts.”

MiHC has performed for the healthcare sector since 1948.
