Students at Tolworth Girls School have become published authors, after 21 of them took part in an intensive workshop with White Water Writers.
They planned, wrote and edited two novels between them in just one week: Punishment is Justice, which follows “dark goings-on” at an American convent; and His Mind, His World, which takes place in a world “where small actions can have huge repercussions, and reality is not always stable”.
The novels have been published under the collective pseudonym TM Cooks, and they are available on Amazon, with the students, all in year nine, having voted to donate all proceeds to charity.
Alice Chiddy-Gosling, English teacher and academic and pastoral leader of year nine, said: “It has been fantastic to see the enthusiasm for writing that the White Water project inspired in our students over this week.
“Staff supervising the project were incredibly impressed with how hard the girls worked to make this a real team effort, with everyone contributing to the final product. The girls were a credit to themselves and are really proud with what they've achieved.
“This will be a fantastic memory for them and one student even mentioned that she would be showing the books to her eventual grandchildren!”
