A bereaved mum from Teddington bravely jumped out of a plane for charity despite a fear of heights.

Denise July, who works at Squire’s Garden Centre in Long Ditton, lost her son, Harry, when he was just 23 years old.

Her skydive, on Saturday, April 21, has raised more than £4,000 so far for Princess Alice Hospice, who took care of Harry.

Denise said: "I am actually terrified of heights so this was quite a challenge.

"I was two miles up in the sky and travelling at 125 mph.

"It was brilliant, an indescribable fabulous feeling, but I was very pleased when the parachute opened and I got back to terra firma.

"My motivation for doing the tandem skydive was my only son, who was so well cared for at Princess Alice Hospice at the end of his life.

"The hospice made Harry feel safe and nurtured, and he asked that we should give back to Princess Alice Hospice through charitable donations.

"So thank you to everyone who has supported me and made a donation to this very worthy charity.”
