Epsom women inspired by the heroic effort of participants at Sunday’s London Marathon can enter Race for Life on The Epsom Downs.

Unlike the London Marathon, women signing up to Cancer Research UK's Race for Life don’t need to train for months to take part.

Instead, they can participate in 5k or 10k events at their own pace, walking, jogging or running their way around the course.

The Race for Life will be held on the Epsom Downs on June 24, a scenic, grassy route with just a few small hills.

Sarah Parker, Cancer Research UK’s Epsom event manager, said: “This year, we’re encouraging women to follow the lead of the marathon runners and take on their own fitness challenge by signing up to Race for Life in Epsom. “Women of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities can take part.

"Whether they’re planning a 5k walk with friends or a 10k jog, it’s not about being first to the finish line; it’s about coming together to beat cancer sooner.”

It is £10.00 for children aged six and over to enter, £14.99 for women, free (and no registration) for children under six.

The course is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible, but is suitable for pushchairs and dogs are welcome too.

Sarah added: “Taking part in Race for Life is a hugely moving experience - full of fun, emotion, tears and laughter.

"The passion and energy of our participants is truly inspiring as women unite to give their all to the cause."
