The newest in a long line of solutions aimed to fix the parking problem at Coulsdon ALDI is in the works.

Back in December last year, Aldi acknowledged the "challenges" associated with the car park.

A spokeswoman noted that a time limit had previously been introduced to help ease congestion around the site, but to no avail.

Now the store has confirmed it has been working with local councillors to find other solutions to the problem.

“Our Coulsdon store is very popular with the local community and we are aware that this can sometimes result in queues for customers trying to access our car park," an Aldi spokeswoman said.

"We have met with local councillors and are currently reviewing options to try and alleviate the situation.”

One of those councillors was Mario Creatura.

He went into a bit more detail regarding the latest fix.

"Good and productive meeting with Adam from Aldi today (April 21) at the Coulsdon store - talking all things parking," he said.

"Signs will be installed to encourage drivers to use the car park better.

"At the moment many don't go all the way in to find a space and that lengthens the queue.

"Aldi will look to be more proactive and have staff out helping manage vehicles and crucially they're going to investigate rearranging the disabled bays and the wider car park to see if we can get the best out of the space."

This was welcome news to Coulsdon residents who have long suffered the aches and pains of waiting in line.

"Great news," one person wrote on Facebook.

"The ones that don’t move up the queue causing congestion at the roundabout are either selfish or stupid."

Another woman was confused how this problem was allowed to get to this stage.

"The trouble is that these parking issues could have easily been foreseen," she wrote.

"Aldi must know how popular they would be and planning should have covered it. I’m so fed up with parking issues in Coulsdon."
