Wandsworth residents are invited to free festival in Tooting.

Hazelfest festival will be held at Hazelhurst Estate, Blackshaw Road on Sunday, May 20 from 1pm until 5pm.

A ramp and steps made from upcycled pallets and wood will be used to access the green space in front of Hayesend House Tower, with the ramp decorated with painted elephants.

The day will be full of entertainment including over 13 arts and crafts activities, a giant bubble show, balloon modelling on stilts, as well as performances from a choir and a drummer.

The festival involves local artists, circus acts and community groups such as Be-Enriched, Summerstown 182, Coolit Art, Jeni Crafts, CARAS, The Sound Lounge, and Hestia.

It is being organised by Work and Play Scrapstore, a community charity who upcycle materials that are otherwise destined for landfill or incineration for arts and crafts and creative play by schools, nurseries, local community groups, charities, students, artists and local families.

Sascha Taylor, general manager at the Work and Play Scrapstore said: “Work and Play Scrapstore are thrilled to be able to build on the success of last year's Hazelfest to make it even bigger and better this year. We are excited about so many local community organisations and artists donating their time for free to make this event happen - for the love of the arts!”
