A Sanderstead charity shop which helps raise money for children with rare brain disorders will close at the end of the month.

The AADC Research Trust took to Facebook to announced that as of May 1, eBear’s Attic in Limpsfield Road would no longer operate as a charity store.

"For the next 2 weeks only (April 17-30) we will continue to accept your donations and welcome these to enable us to raise funds for our very important cause," the post said.

"From the May 1 we will be working our notice period and all items of stock, donations, fixtures and fittings and furniture will be listed for sale through our eBay store as we prepare to finally close our doors.

"This is an extremely sad time for us all as we have spent the past seven years building up an exceptional and unique tea room and charity boutique, which has been enjoyed by you the customer and our volunteers alike."

AADC is a genetically inherited neurological disorder affecting the brain's ability to produce neurotransmitters, dopamine and serotonin, which are essential to everyday living.

Affected children show a number of movement disorders, most frequently dystonia.

The severity of symptoms experienced by each affected child varies, but the majority of children show minimal motor development in the absence of treatment.

The charity thanked all those who had supported it over the years.

"The importance of your support and the amount of funds raised has meant that the good work of the AADC Research Trust Children's Charity continued on and the much needed research into our rare brain disease funded.

"The AADC Research Trust will now explore new avenues to raise funds for its children and hope you will continue to support and follow us on our journey to finding a cure for our children suffering aromatic amino acid decarboxylase deficiency.
