Trams will stop running through parts of Croydon at the end of this month to accommodate an "essential track upgrade."

This upgrade work will see tracks replaced between George Street and Church Street from March 30 until April 4, and from the junction of Cherry Orchard Road to Addiscombe Road from March 30 until April 8.

TfL’s general manager for London Trams, Rory O’Neill asked for the public's patience while the works are being completed.

“This important track replacement forms part of a wider programme of works designed to provide customers with a more reliable service," he said.

"While some closures will be necessary, we will work 24-hours a day to help reduce the time we need to spend in the area, helping minimise disruption to both residents and our customers.

"I thank you for your patience and ask you to check before you travel this Easter.”

Throughout the work, no tram services will operate as follows:

Reeves Corner to Sandilands - March 30 until April 4

East Croydon to Sandilands - March 30 until April 8
