A dog was saved from misadventure when fire crews from Epsom rescued him from a pond.
Barry the Jack Russell was having a walk in Ashtead Park when he fell through ice into a pond at about 1.15pm on Monday, March 5.
A joint effort from the Epsom fire team and Painshill’s animal rescue units got Barry back to dry land and his relieved owner’s arms.
Surrey Fire and Rescue tweeted: “As the cold weather continues, rivers & lakes are freezing over, please DO NOT walk on the ice & keep animals away or on a lead - If you see an animal in distress or fallen through the ice, ring 999 immediately
“Do not go onto the ice & put yourself or others at risk.”
