A 48-year-old has appeared in court regarding an incident that left a "homeless" man in critical condition.

Police were called at 1.59am to Frederick Court, Portland Road, on February 8 to reports of an injured man.

At the scene a 48-year-old "homeless" man, named locally as Martin, had suffered facial injuries.

Martin was taken to hospital, initially in a critical but stable condition.

He remains in hospital but his condition has been upgraded to a stable.

Four days after the incident, Richard Delgado, 48, of no fixed address was charged by police with grievous bodily harm with intent.
