St Mary Magdalen’s in Mortlake came out on top when 31 Richmond schools came together for the High 5 Netball tournament at Old Deer Park.

It was the first time St Mary Magdalen’s had won the tournament, which involved more than 200 children from 31 primary schools across the borough in the mixed netball competition on February 21.

The top fifteen teams from the morning’s round robin progressed to the afternoon cup round robin whilst the remaining sixteen competed in the plate round robin.

The Plate Final was won by Kew College, who beat Bishop Perrin 5-1. St Mary Magdalen’s won the cup final by beating The Queens School 8-5.

Councillor David Linnette, cabinet member for culture, sport and the voluntary sector, said: “It’s great to see so many children from schools across the borough coming together to take part in the competition. Encouraging our children to take part in these kinds of events is a great way to get them active, and improve their overall health

“Well done to St Mary Magdalen’s and Kew College for their wins and to all the 200 children for taking part.”
