A man who had to replace his fence three times due to cars crashing into it is calling for his road to be made safer.

Gary Douch, who lives on Westway in Raynes Park, said he has seen six crashes at the junction of Crossway within the last two years with the most recent one being on January 15.

Mr Douch is demanding for the road to be narrowed or CCTV measures put in place to prevent a serious injury at this junction of road.

Mr Douch said vehicles have crashed outside his house, and even into his and his neighbours' fences.

He said: “This is a crazy junction.

“These accidents are becoming far too frequent and in my opinion with parents and children crossing at this junction, I fear a serious injury is not too far away.

“In fact we have replaced our fence three times due to cars crashing through it following a collision.”

He has even written to his local MP Stephen Hammond about the number of crashes.

A Merton Council spokesperson said: “We are sorry to hear of a further road traffic incident in this vicinity and we thank Mr Douch for getting in touch with us and alerting us to his ongoing concerns.

“As is our practice in such cases we will carry out a further investigation into road safety in this area.

“The junction is already subject to a number of traffic restrictions and pending relevant information from the police, we can then take an even more detailed look at the situation again and take appropriate action based on the evidence relating to the cause of the accidents.”
