A South Croydon nursery has been rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted.
Number 9 The Nursery was opened in 2015 with just six staff and 20 kids under their care.
Now, just two-and-a-half years later, those numbers have risen to 20 staff and more than 100 children in their care.
This has all culminated in an ‘outstanding’ rating in the nursery’s first Ofsted inspection.
Alison Wilcock works at the nursey and was over the moon when she heard the news.
“We think it’s very unusual for a nursery to get outstanding in their first inspection we put this down to have a lot of hard work on all front with tremendous amount of support from our parents,” she said.
“We are delighted to get outstanding, we have worked incredibly hard to meet the criteria. We really want to give the children in our care every opportunity to have a wonderful childhood and reach their full potential.”
The Ofsted report highlighted the “inspirational” work at the nursery.
“Staff are instrumental in supporting older children to develop a strong sense of
responsibility,” the report said.
“For instance, children wash up their own cutlery after snacks.”
Students also regularly get to touch and learn about animals like lizards, snakes and even spiders.
