A Croydon man who has helped women get a foot in the technology industry is being recognised for his efforts.

Russ Shaw built two advocacy groups from the ground up has now been nominated for an award at the 2018 FDM everywoman in Technology Awards.

Part of the reason Mr Shaw was nominated for the 'male agent of change award' is because of the way he has mentored women into the tech industry.

H noticed a passion two women had around gender equality and presented them with the opportunity to become founders of the TLA Women in Tech working group.

They are now the largest working group with over 2000 advocates.

Maxine Benson, the co-founder of everywoman, said this year's group of finalists were a class above.

"From the UK and beyond, they are reshaping the tech landscape, while simultaneously encouraging others to do the same," she siad.

"At everywoman, we recognise the role that men also play in ensuring a strong pipeline of female talent, which is why this year we have introduced the 'male agent of change award.

"The companies represented within the finalist lineup are proving their dedication to ensuring a gender-balanced workforce and, ultimately, a much more sustainable and successful business.

"We look forward to celebrating all winners and finalists in February 2018.”

Mr Shaw will find out if he has beaten out the two others nominated in his category at a ceremony on February 8.
