Do you have a shed full of broken or unused hairdryers, kettles, alarm clocks and other electronic clutter?
Richmonders can kick off 2018 by dropping off their hard-to-recycle junk for free.
West London Waste Authority and Richmond Council are hosting collections for unwanted electronic equipment from Monday January 8 to Friday January 12.
The collection point is at the reception area of the Civic Centre, York Street, Twickenham from 9am to 5pm each day.
Councillor Pamela Fleming, cabinet member for environment said: “Landfilling of waste and electrical equipment can be particularly dangerous as it contains hazardous substances such as mercury, lead, beryllium and cadmium.
“Recycling these items means fewer raw materials need to be used in the manufacture of new goods and precious metals are used again.”
As an approximate rule, ‘small’ electronics should fit into a carrier bag.
Printers should be ok, but refrigerators or lawnmowers are a definite no.
