A primary school has become one of the first in the country to be certified for its commitment to providing a safe online environment.

Lark Hall Primary School, in Smedley Street, was praised for its efforts in safeguarding pupils and staff from potentially harmful and inappropriate online material.

Now it is officially recognised by training National Online Safety (NOS) and meets education regulator Ofsted’s latest guidelines.

Lark Hall’s deputy headteacher Victoria Bassett said: “Lark Hall Primary School has undergone a full audit on how we implement online safety and we’ve established clear mechanisms to identify, intervene in and escalate any online safety incident where appropriate.

“We’re delighted to become a NOS certified school the whole experience has empowered staff members with the information they need to help protect children online.”

NOS co-founder James Southworth: “Congratulations to everyone at Lark Hall Primary School on becoming a National Online Safety Certified School.

“Lark Hall has undergone a thorough assessment of its online safety activities, implemented recommended actions and taken in-depth training on how to protect and educate the whole school in its use of technology.”
