One Croydon school is proving that you don't need to live up north to thrive in rugby league.

Harris Academy South Norwood were recently crowned south London champions in the u12s, u13s, u14s and u15s age groups while the year 7s capped off a great year by coming third overall in the London Youth Games.

Jamie Muncer, Harris Academy’s director of sport was delighted at the success the school has shown in the sport.

"Rugby league has been a fantastic outlet for many of our boys," he said.

"We have many quick and powerful athletes who thrive in the sport.

The London Rugby League Foundation have been brilliant in supporting our school.

They have even given us spare shirts and free rugby balls to continue to promote rugby league.

"The rugby league community really is unique and something the sport should take great pride in. I do believe that there is an incredible amount of talent in the south of London and, hopefully, we can all help continue to grow the sport in this area.”
