A Sutton primary school has invested in a new library after their headteacher made it her top priority when she joined three years ago.

Robin Hood Junior School will open the library on November 30 with children’s author Jane Ray being a special guest.

Headteacher, Elisabeth Broers, told Sutton Guardian: “Everyone is so excited about the opening.

“Our children love to read and we felt a room, dedicated to promoting reading for learning and pleasure, would benefit the whole community and improve the experience at Robin Hood Juniors.

“I am grateful to Governors for being brave and committing the funding at a time when school budgets are under such pressure.”

Pupils who have English as a second language and children with dyslexia will benefit from specific text sections in the library.

The Mayor of Sutton, Jean Crossby, will also attend the library launch.

Parents and children have donated both new and second hand books with money also being raised to purchase specific titles.
