An Epsom charity has opened its new premises in The Old Town Hall after months of searching for the right place.

On-hand for the opening of The Sunnybank Trust's new office was Epsom and Ewell Mayor, councillor Liz Frost, who officially opened the office, providing members, volunteers and supporters a chance to celebrate the successful move.

The Sunnybank Trust, which supports people with learning difficulties across north-east Surrey, moved from their small office in St Barnabas Church, which was becoming increasingly cramped and unfit for purpose.

The new office will provide better access to those in wheelchairs as well as a more inclusive space for members to write, draw and interact with their community penfriends. It will also provide a better space for the charity’s day-to-day work such as partnering volunteers with socially isolated members, providing advocacy programmes and running weekly social and drama clubs.

Dorothy Watson, chief executive of The Sunnybank Trust, said: “We are thrilled to have this opportunity which offers us much needed space and accessibility. It is also very exciting to bring the issues of learning disability into the very heart of Epsom.”
