A Croydon volunteer will be is set to receive one of the most prestigious yachting awards going around.
Janice Beaumont has been nominated for an Outstanding Contribution Award in recognition of her commitment to Croydon Sailing Club (CSC).
“On receiving news that I had won the Award, I felt very honoured that my colleagues on the Sailing Club Committee had nominated me and that the RYA has recognised my achievements," Ms Beaumont said.
"I am thrilled to be attending the presentation ceremony at the end of the month which definitely will be a day to remember."
Ms Beaumont has been a member of CSC for 14 years and was elected secretary in 2010. Since she took office membership has doubled, as has the club’s annual programme of activities and the development plan has been 90% accomplished.
She will receive her award at the Royal Yachting Association’s annual awards ceremony in London on November 24.
