This year's Epsom fireworks display is set to be the largest and most complex ever.

With the help of award-winning Illusion Fireworks Limited there will be "a display to knock your socks off" using a state-of-the-art computer controlled digital firing system.

Since 1971 Epsom’s yearly fireworks display, organised by the The 7th Epsom (Methodist) Scout Group with the help of local charities, has grown bigger and bigger and now it is considered one of the best displays in South East England.

Event organiser Ben Thackwell said the value of the aerial display fireworks was around £20,000.

He said: “Every year local groups help us with the display to raise much-needed funds for their own organisations and for charities in the borough. Approximately 150 people volunteer their help on the night and without them the event would not go ahead."

The total event costs around £25,000 to put on and the money raised by the event will be going to a number of charities including: local participating Scout Groups and Guide Companies; the Children’s Trust at Tadworth, St John Ambulance; the Girls Brigade and Round Table.
