One of the world's finest classical Indian singers will be performing in Wimbledon this Saturday (November 4).

Chiranjib Chakraborty will perform at Merton Art Space in Wimbledon Library in a concert featuring both Hindustani classical and Bengali raga-based semi-classical music.

Ahmed Kaysher, director of the Saudha (Society of Poetry and Indian Music) said the event was expected to attract both Asian and non-Asian music lovers.

He said: “We are extremely glad that the splendour of this powerful world music has been accepted by the international communities here in the west and that people admire the beauty of this great art form as equally as Indian classical music and leave such a wonderful feedback.”

The concert is part of the three-month-long Bangla Music Festival, now in its fifth year, which is organised by Saudha. Other festival venues include the House of Commons, Keats House in Hampstead, and the Rich Mix arts hub in Bethnal Green.

This concert this Saturday begins at 6.30pm. Entry: £10. For tickets visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bangla-music-festival-wimbledon-library-tickets-35404865907
