A charity in Sutton will now receive support from a TSB Bank as they continue to try and combat homelessness.

Every TSB branch in the UK adopts a community charity for the year where fundraising events are held.

Sutton Night Watch Homeless Charity was selected by TSB Bank on Sutton High Street and money has already been raised through a quiz night.

Carole Greig, charity champion of TSB Sutton, said: “I am thrilled to welcome Sutton Night Watch as our new Local Charity Partner, which is close to our hearts here in Sutton, due to the work it does in supporting and raising awareness for homeless people within the borough and surrounding areas.

"We can’t wait to get started and there will be fundraising events in the branch, such as cake bakes, book sales and competitions, as well as a Christmas shoe box food collection service.

"We will also do our best to work with local councillors on supporting the charity to find a soup kitchen and secure storage facilities for donations."

The TSB representative added that they are currently seeking support from local councillors for Sutton Night Watch to secure a premises where they can run a soup kitchen.

A quiz night was held on Tuesday, October 24 where £358 was generated.

TSB's charity programme has raised over £1.7 million across Britain since its launch in 2015.
