Wimbledon Village has a new place to pick up a bottle for the evening meal.

Friarwood, which opened in the High Street on Wednesday (October 18), specialises in Bordeaux and Burgundy wines.

It is the firm's second store, having opened its first in Parsons Green in 1967.

Ben Carfagnini, managing director said: “We have been looking for a long time for a space that we wanted and we found Wimbledon to be exciting with not a lot of wine retails stores there.

“We thought the customer profile and portfolio was what we was looking for and found the location and went with it.”

He added: “The new store will bring a fresh independent wine merchant to Wimbledon, offering exclusive, directly imported wines to the area.

“ We want our customers both consumer and wholesale to enjoy the wine we have to offer and discover something new, we are extremely excited for the future of Friarwood and exploring with local residents the world of wine."
