Hundreds of jobseekers headed along to the Holiday Inn last week to get a little inspiration courtesy of this newspaper.

The Sutton Guardian Job Fair on Thursday (October 19) attracted in the region of 400 people armed with CVs and dreams of a new career to meet the 20 employers looking to add to their ranks.

Employers included the Army, The Children’s Trust and Signatures of Epsom.

The National Careers Service was also on hand to offer advice and guidance.

Aimee English, team leader and multi media consultant at Newsquest South West London, said: "Our first Sutton Guardian Job Fair in eight years was a huge success. We got such great feedback from both jobseekers and employers and we can't wait for the next one.

"When speaking to the businesses they said they were happy with the amount of attendees, they all generated a lot of interest in the vacancies that they had available. A couple of the businesses are already looking to rebook a stand at the next event."

Among the employers exhibiting was Extraman.

Extraman's manager Emma Wadding said: "We enjoyed the event, I wasn’t sure how many people we expected to see on the day, however we managed to speak with a number of candidates and already have 4 candidates into work this week, which is great news."

The Sutton Guardian Jobs Fair will return bigger and even better in 2018 and you will hear about it here first.
