A mix and mash of Croydon's music scene is set to hit the stage this week.
On October 27, ten musicians will come together to form five pairs where they will combine everything from Turkish percussion to spoken word.
Croydon Composers is a music project bringing together Croydon’s aspiring composers and musicians to create cross-genre, cross-community collaborations
Each pair has created one composition and will perform at the live music venue, Scream Lounge.
Drum The Bass selected musicians from across the community and from a wide range of music genres including hip hop, spoken word, percussion, choral folk, Indian classical music and more.
Drum the Bass director Shri Sriram said: “Croydon Composers has been a fantastic experience for me – the creativity, energy and commitment of these Croydon artists has been inspirational.
The list of participating artists is:
1. Tansay Omar (Turkish percussionist and drummer) with Amen Noir (spoken word)
2. Katie Rose (choral folk singer) with Dan Buskell (drummer)
3. Gill Manly (jazz singer) with Unorthodox Kings (hiphop, rapper).
4. Saleel Tambe (tabla player) with Shri’s backing track.
5. Raveena Rajeevan (Indian classical singer) with Dave Koor (electronic, keyboards)
