Croydon's youth is taking over the clocktower this Saturday as part of a day-long arts festival.

The Croydon Youth Arts Collective (CYAC) will be bringing music, film, interactive workshops and more this Saturday as part of the second Youth Arts Takeover at the Croydon Clocktower.

CYAC member Nee is looking forward to the day

“Seeing the community come together for an event run by young people from around the borough,” she said.

Fellow member Darris said: “I’m most looking forward to the mass turn out and also seeing people of all ages having fun."

There will be creative workshops for young people to get stuck into throughout the clocktower, from virtual reality to street dance. Displays of visual artwork from young Croydon artists will also be on view. Families can also get involved in activities like face painting and story time sessions, and young people can enjoy live music in the Braithwaite Hall, film screenings in the David Lean Cinema and a panel discussion about how the arts can change lives in the council chamber.

Live acts include carnival band Kinetika Bloco, rappers and vocalists from Syrus Consultancy CIC and the 30-strong Croydon Music and Arts youth Jazz Band!
