The first council houses in Sutton in almost 30 years have started to be built.

Fellowes Road in Carshalton is the site of the first 15 homes where work began this month.

The other locations are Ludlow in Wallington and Richmond Green in Beddington where 93 will be built in total.

A statement on the Sutton Council website reads: "Sutton Council is committed to making our community a place where people want to live and work.

"As part of this commitment, we’re increasing the number of new and affordable council houses, helping to drive economic growth and investment within the borough."

The new council houses are set to be finished by November 2018.
