Nine people were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences in Leatherhead after police stopped a car while on routine patrol.
At about 11.40pm on Sunday, October 15, in Dilston Road, officers discovered some of those in the car were in the UK illegally.
This led them to a home in Cleeve Road, where several other men were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.
The men, all aged between 45 and 53, remain in custody, and police are working with the Border Agency to deal with them.
Police have asked residents to not be unduly concerned if they noticed a lot of police activity in the area.
